Bunker first ‘61xx’ 2-6-2T No.6139 departs from Shirley with a Birmingham to Stratford train. This was one of six of this class which were transferred to Tyseley to replace ten ‘82xxx’ Class’ 3’ 2-6-2Ts in 1953, the other four replacements being four ‘56xx’ 0-6-2Ts, Nos. 6614/20/68/9. The BR Standards, Nos.82000-9, which had been there since they were built, were transferred to Barry and Treherbert during September and Tyseley acquired Nos.6105/18/21/34/39/66, the first time that ‘61XX’ tanks had been stationed in the Birmingham area.
