With a 'normal' coach added to make a 3 car unit. This would require additional electrics so was not a quick job. The Railcar just visible at the trailing end is undoubtably W38W , the ' sister ' of W33W forming a twin car unit with buffet and toilet facilities , the pair being introduced by the G.W.R. in 1942 to work as a pair and also , as shown here , to operate with a conventional corridor coach in the middle between them . Allocated in 1956 to Reading Depot this twin unit shared their home there with sister Railcars W16W , W18W and W22W , whilst nearby Southall had W21W , W27W , W30W , W31W and W34W on their complement. The other twenty five Railcars still in service were spread throughout the Western Region in 1956 , examples being located at Oxford and Worcester in the north to Bristol and Weymouth in the south .
