The reason the 4MT is held is not apparent, itis a Sunday and the Up Main is being re-laid with flatbottom track. There is still a lot of ballast spreading and Tamping to be done as the bassast is piled high in the 4 foot, perhaps the Flying Pig has a Shark to spread it as its brake van, it looks so high that it would foul brake yokes to me. The station was pretty bleak and once the Stainmore line closed on 5 April 1965 it lost its main purpose, the railway town being still small. The station closed on he line closed completely on 1st July 1968, the shed having closed on New Years Day.
