Sutton Park station had a fairly plain appearance, probably because of the absence of platform canopies. One interesting point to note however is the station sign in the centre of the photograph, an unusual combination of a painted BR totem on a rectangular board. The parcels vehicle in the background is standing on the third platform road which could be used for both arrivals and departures. In 1960 five Birmingham-Walsall trains called at the station on weekdays, with an additional one on Saturdays, although only four made the journey in the opposite direction. Other details are the removal of notice boards, the ‘Ladies Toilet over Bridge’ chalked on the seatback. The ‘Gents’ sign has been taken down and leans against the end wall below the LMS lamp standard (L&YR pattern) wall lamp.
