Nos 8 and 17 1968-06-17 Polkemmet
The celebrated double header in action at Polkemmet Colliery on a dark overcast day in June 1968. Around twelve of these double headed train would ascend the mile long climb to the BR exchange sidigs on the edge of Polkemmet Moor, each day. Steam activity ceased here as late as 1980. The engines seen here are No 8 (AB 885/1900) leading, and No 17 (HE 2880/1943). The engines which worked at Polkemmet were maintained in filthy condition.
