Taking a charge at the 1 in 34 incline which lies ahead on the 1 mile climb to the BR exchange sidings at Polkemmet, No 8 (AB 885/1900) heads the much younger No 17 (HE 2880/1943). As the engines working here were routinely kept externally filthy, sunny conditions for photography were desirable though on this 1968 June day, in short supply.
