BR 'Class 42' or 'Warship' B-B diesel hydraulic No. D820 'Grenville'. Built at Swindon in May 1960 and withdrawn in November 1972.

The fascinating story of BR's Western Region choice of diesel hydraulic motive power continues to be debated. Suffice it to say, it was typical of an organisation that with hindsight had a chaotically wasteful approach to motive power modernisation. D820 passes through a quiet Paignton Station in July 1967.
