BR 'Class 42' B-B Diesel-Hydraulic No. D818 'Glory'. Built at Swindon in March 1960 and withdrawn in November 1972. Ever taking its own path, Swindon opted to follow the diesel-hydraulic route to power its new generation of motive power. It also produced two striking visual designs in the ill-fated and short-lived 'Warship' and 'Western' classes. Leaving Paignton in July 1966 is 'Warship' D818' Glory', an unfortunate name for a machine with little time to achieve it!
