The pride of York's allocation of 'A1s' was No. 60121 'Silurian'. It was allocated to York for its entire life and achieved some celebrity in the final months, being used for Dringhouses Yard to Healey Mills freights. The appearance of 'A1s' on former L&Y metals in the Calder Valley was a cause for much excitement amongst enthusiasts! This is a really lovely 1960s portrait at its home shed in company with a decidedly grubby '9F' No. 92205. Built at Darlington in December 1948, 60121 would be withdrawn in October 1965.
