70000 1956c Ipswich
Peter Kerslake says "Ipswich station at the Liverpool Street end was one of the most pleasant locations for the railway photographer and I spent many a happy hour there in the mid 'fifties when I was away from home in Plymouth and working there. In this view the splendid background with the tunnel mouth right at the end of the platform is shown to advantage as 70000 Britannia sets off after a brief stop with a Golrleston on Sea to Liverpool Street express, led by a Gresley teak bodied Brake or Parcels composite...I'm no expert on rolling stock !
This is the 1:43p.m. special returning "Holiday Express" from Gorleston on Sea to Liverpool Street, due back into London at 5:02p.m.
