Dringhouses on the southern edge of York was a favourite location for enthusiasts with excellent lineside views and had the added attraction of Dringhouses freight yard just beyond St. Helens road bridges behind the train. Stanier 'Black 5' No. LMS 4781 is passing south in 1947 under the fine gantry that was later replaced by colour light signals.
