Motor-fitted Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T No.41224 arrives at Wellingborough London Road, a station that was actually situated just south of the town and River Nene at Little Irchester, on 30th June 1962 with a two-coach train from Northampton.

It was allocated to Wellingborough from March 1962 having previously been at Bedford for several years, although it started life in North Wales at Bangor and subsequently at Rhyl. No.41224 moved to the Southern Region in January 1963.

The factory in the right background belonged to Nicholson Son & Daniels Ltd, one of the major employers in the local leather and tanning industry.
