Shunting at Bournemouth Central in around 1966, 41224 has lost its push-pull gear, probably during a Light Intermediate repair at Eastleigh in 1963. 41224 had moved to the Southern Region from Wellingborough in January 1963 and ended its days at Bournemouth, from November 1964 until the end of Southern steam in July 1967.
