4081 1956-05-12 Bath Spa

The boys at Swindon certainly knew how to turn out an engine looking its best following an overhaul at the Works and 4081' Warwick Castle" is in new colours and on a local stopping' Running In' turn here at Bath before later working back to her home shed at Landore in South Wales. Once back home , Landore will doubtless use her on the express passenger rosters to Paddington and she will rejoin their allocation of well maintained and well kept' Castles' for which that particular shed was so well known. The'Spotters' on the platform are clearly impressed , and Bath was a good location to'cop' a spotless locomotive from afar on these'Running In' turns , the late and well respected photographer Kenneth Leech capturing on film many such sights both here at Bath and at his favoured location at Chippenham
