7019 1960c Reading

Peter Kerslake says "7019 " Fowey Castle " appears to be running non stop through Reading General in this view , and the lads on the opposite platform had better watch out as both " home " and " distant " signals are cleared for an approaching working on the " up " line through their platform as well , but they are more interested in the " Castle ".
According to my records 7019 had the distinction of being the last of the class remaining in British Railways ownership to be overhauled at Swindon Works and I photographed her there in early 1964 when she was being prepared to work from her then home at Oxley Depot on that year's Summer Services running between the North Midlands and Bristol on the Saturday holiday additional workings to and back from the Westcountry , the final year of main line workings for the remaining 'Castles' left in service"
