5063 failed at Gloucester on 19th January 1965 on a freight with a hot box to its intermediate driving axle. The offending set of wheels were removed on Horton Rd. shed and placed in a wagon ready to go to Swindon but were stopped from going and were refitted to the engine without being remetalled. 5063 is seen here in my photograph having been " put back together " but now waiting to go to Cashmores in South Wales for cutting up. 5063's last day in steam was, therefore, 19th January 1965.
