Pictured here at a rapidly deteriorating Wolverhampton Stafford Road Depot 7029 " Clun Castle " has yet to achieve fame as the last " Castle " to remain in service , and is engaged or more mundane duties than the many Enthusiasts' Specials which she ran upon in her final years.
One of her two inside valve spindle covers has been lost , and that looks like a " King " behind , working its final months in service .
Stafford Road finally closed in September of 1963 , its remaining allocation of Western locomotives going over to its Midland counterpart at Oxley from where they worked until it all came to an end in December , 1965 .
Happily still with us , and a favourite amongst many enthusiasts , " Clun Castle " is set to return to the main line again before too long following an extensive overhaul at Tyseley.
