4098 1961-09-22 Exeter St Davids
On 1M91 Plymouth-Manchester. The days of steam hauled express passenger workings as seen here in the far West at Exeter were by this time numbered , but 4098 , " Kidwelly Castle ", a long standing local and Newton Abbot engine , looks in fine form here on a West to North working , which it will run up to Bristol Temple Meads. From Bristol , and working through the Severn Tunnel , one of Bristol Bath Road , or possibly Shrewsbury shed's engines will work the train through to Shrewsbury , handing over there to a Midland Region locomotive for the run up to Crewe.
