Wolverhampton Stafford Road 's 4092 , " Dunraven Castle " is a long way from home as she runs into Bath Spa from the Chippenham direction in this pleasing shot.
The answer is that she's almost certainly just been through Swindon Works, and is yet to find her way back home and although she has not received new colours the repainted smokebox and its door clearly confirms a recent Works overhaul.
Such treatment, often known at Swindon as a " Toe and Heel ", did not normally involve removal of the boiler, but 4092 looks in good condition here, especially as she's one of the first batch of her class.
The cut away and rounded top to the inside valve chest, typical of the early "Castles ", shows up well in this splendid picture.
