The last Summer for the few remaining " Castles " still left in service and 7011 , " Banbury Castle " returns to Birmingham with a Summer Services Saturday working from Bristol , having worked down earlier that same morning.
The location is Elmbridge Bank , just North of Gloucester , and the following year , 1965 , it was a handful of drafted in " Britannias " whch ran on these workings
Additional information has revealed that ths is the 1964 10.05 .a.m. Summer Saturdays extra from Kingswear to Wolverhampton and that 7011 , " Banbury Castle " , one of Wolverhampton Oxley shed's few remainng "Castles ", is working back home from Bristol Temple Meads , having worked down earlier that same morning with an express destined for the North Devon coast .
As Bath Road and St . Philip's Marsh sheds at Bristol were by this date both closed to steam it was necessary for locomotives working into Temple Meads to be turned , watered and prepared for the return to Wolverhampton at the former Midland shed at Bristol Barrow Road , although that depot was , by this time , in a poor state and provided few facilities for such visiting engines.
