Great Western Railway Dean 'Duke' class 4-4-0 No. 3286 'Meteor'. Built at Swindon in Apr. 1899 as GWR No. 3320, re-numbered to 3286 in Dec. 1912 and withdrawn in Apr. 1936. This fine broadside portrait of 'Meteor' at Reading MPD in October 1926, accentuates the lines of Dean's 'Duke' class to perfection. The very tall, slim chimney is a variant to the shorter wider version also seen on the class.
