Peter Kerslake writes "There was still plenty of steam working the freights on the South Wales line through Gloucester at this time, although it had all ended by the end of the following year. Severn Tunnel Junction shed was still open to steam, an important factor which permitted such workings, and here I have caught 92209 off 88A Cardiff East Dock with a good head of steam and a clear signal , about to restart a freight from Gloucester Central after probably having taken on water from the column still operational at this location. There could have been a crew change here as well. Gloucester Horton Road shed is visible on the left with Tramway Junction and Crossing hidden by Central's East Signal Box".
