In preparation for its naming ceremony D 800 is attracting lots of interest from footplate men and suitably attired Inspectors here at Paddington on 14th July 1958. Even the news cameras are here, complete with two massive circular film containers, so familiar in those days before videos and digital technology. The nameplate is still covered, so nothing has happened yet!
