Clearly something special is happening here at Paddington's platform four on 14th July 1958 with lots of very important people mixing with interested travellers whilst a couple of blokes on the left try to get on with their clearing up tasks despite the congestion. There are a couple of Inspectors on the left, complete with regulation grey suits and Trilby hats, whilst an even more important one in a Bowler is visible . This is clearly the naming ceremony for D800, with drapes in place over the nameplate of the specially cleaned locomotive and more inspectors and officials are admiring their efforts.
