Peter Kerslake says "D812 "Royal Naval Reserve 1859- 1959" came into service at Laira on the 12th. November 1959 later spending time at Newton Abbot before returning to Laira from where it was withdrawn on the 1st. December, 1972.
From the Summer of 1963 the Western Region's "Warships" began to appear on the Southern's express rosters between Waterloo and Exeter Central, initially sharing those duties with the remaining Bulleid express locomotives, they worked them until 1971 as seen here with D 812 setting off westwards bound for Exeter Central."
