CR 218A 1880s Perth MPD
Now all but forgotten, Benjamin Connor designed no less than 36 different classes of the Caledonian Railway's earlier 19th century locomotives of very sturdy construction. Over many years, a favourite place for fine portraits such as this was the MPD yard at Perth, probably taken in the 1880s. This is one of the sixty four '216' class 0-4-2s. No. 218A was built in 1861 by Neilson & Co. of Glasgow and was withdrawn by 1895.
