6003 1958c Dawlish
Not all of the Kings received new front frames and new inside cylinder blocks at Swindon Works from 1955 onwards and in this 1958 view 6003 on the 8.30am Truro-Paddington certainly has not been so equipped. It's a fine low angle shot taken on the approach to Teignmouth station from the west and if 6003 did have assistance from Plymouth to Newton Abbot over the banks the pilot engine will have come off at Newton Abbot. This shot was taken under the Sea Lawn footbridge at Dawlish, the bridge was demolished in the late 50's/early 60's, we are not certain of the year -can anyone help?
