Peter Kerslake adds "6018 was awaiting repairs at its home shed, returning to traffic the following month.
One of the eight Kings transferred to Cardiff Canton during 1960 and 1961, it was returned to Old Oak in June 1962.
Whilst at Swindon Works in late 1962 there circulated unfounded rumours of its intended preservation and 6018 was given an overhaul there in anticipation of its sale to Butlins. Although that sale did not proceed 6018 was retained intact at Swindon Works and was used to work an enthusiast's special in April 1963 before fiinally ending its days in C Shop in October 1963."
