6005 1927 London Paddington
GWR King No 6005 King George II reverses out of Paddington with the stock of an express from Plymouth in 1927. It appears to still be coupled to the leading coach and is being “dragged” out to Old Oak by a station pilot at the front end. In the background is the original Paddington Goods Station which was rebuilt in the late 1920s with longer covered roads. The semaphore signals have not yet been replaced by the colour light signals which were introduced as part of a major modernisation of the station in the early 1930s.
