6006 1956c Whitnash cutting near Leamington
Paul Warner says "It is not Hatton bank as this can usually be identified by the down loop that starts at Budbrook and runs all the way up the to Hatton station. To me this looks like Whitnash cutting just outside Leamington. Unfortunately I cannot make out what the milepost reads but Whitnash is about 2 miles south of Leamington which is given as 106 miles from London (-it is 104 ¾ so you are spot on!). ColourRail's GW 1 shows King 6007 at Whitnash from which a useful comparison can be made"And Peter Kerslake adds "6006" King George I " had the unfortunate distinction of being the first of the class to be withdrawn from service, being condemned from its long standing home at Stafford Road in mid February 1962 from where it was taken to Swindon Works that same month and cut up there in "C " Shop four months later. One of the sixteen " Kings " which did not receive new front frames during earlier Heavy Repair spells at Swindon between September 1954 and June 1958 " King Gorge I " had been shedded continuously at Stafford Road since August 1930 when just two years old."
