6018 1962 Bristol

6018 1962 Bristol

The Reporting Number is for the Bristolian but the ex-LMS coaches at the front suggest this is the Saturdays Only train to Weston-super-Mare

This is at the northern, or Bath side, of Bristol Temple Meads, with 6018, " King Henry VI " ruuning in from Paddington.
One of the sixteen " Kings " to retain its original front frames and cylinder block until the end, not being one of the fourteen to receive replacements in the early 'fifties. 6018 was initially condemned in December 1962 but was still at Swindon Works and available to work an Enthusiasts' Special on 28 April 1963, following which it had been selected by Butlins to grace one of their holiday camps, but despite work having been started within Swindon's "A " Shop in readiness for its new role, the sale fell through and 6018 was eventually cut up at Swindon in October 1963.
Rumours which circulated in 1963 that 6018 had changed identities with 6000 "King George V " were, of course, completely unfounded
