6016 1959 Swindon

6016 1959 Swindon

Peter Kerslake says "Heading west, 6016 King Edward V appears to be on a running-in turn, with just four coaches. I am not sure about the chalked '375' Reporting Number on the smokebox door which I cannot identify.
The year is shown as 1959, the latter months of which saw 6016 relocated to Laira following a number of years at Old Oak Common.
From August to November 1959 the engine was in Swindon Works so it might be on a local service at or about that time before going back to Laira.
Some more research now tells me that fourteen of the thirty " Kings " actually received replacement front frames and associated new inside cylinder blocks whilst undergoing Heavy Overhauls at Swindon between September 1954 and June 1958, and 6016 was certainly one of them."
