The little bracket fitted to 6014 in its streamlined days with the GWR shows up clearly in this very nice shot and is above the two inside valve covers, hiding the little brass lubricating oil reservoir.
It was fitted to carry the Reporting Number frame, as the rounded casing over the smokebox door, fitted at that time, would not permit the frame being fitted in the customary posiition as seen in this photograph.
The casing didn't last long, but the little bracket remained on 6014 for the rest of its working life
"Castle " 5015, " Manorbier Castle " was also similarly modified.
