Exactly four weeks before its official withdrawal date of 7 September 1962, King Richard III has a "clear road ahead" signalled out of Banbury. 6015 was the first 'King' to receive a double chimney during a two month visit to Swindon which began at the end of June 1955 and which ran through to the beginning of September. The original fabricated design was later changed with effect from November 1956 to a more pleasing cast iron version.
