LMS Coronation 4-6-2 No 46248 City of Leeds with a Saturday Perth-Edinburgh football special via the Forth Bridge passing Saughton Junction on 26 August 1960.

Access to Princes Street was from the up Glasgow line at Haymarket West Junction. To enable this to happen trains from the Forth Bridge would have to be routed from the Fife lines to the Glasgow lines here at Saughton Junction, there being no connections between the two routes at Haymarket West Junction. This connection at Saughton Junction is visible just in front of the rear of the train and the signals also indicate that the train is heading towards Waverley rather than Princes Street.
