Double Headed Steam
The tank repllenished, the Vulcan engine backed down to its waiting train (Picture 2) and the fireman coupled up the auxiliary bunker. It was only at this stage that the St Andrews visitors began to realise that something out of the ordinary was about to take place because the Barclay tank then proceeded to follow the saddletank towards the train and coupled up to the front of No. 13.
The coal train now had two locomotives at its head, each with a full head of steam.
An unexpected and interesting situation was developing.
