5967 1959-06-18 Parson's Tunnel Teignmouth

GWR Hall 4-6-0 No 5967 Bickmarsh Hall with the 7.30am Paddington-Paignton passing Teignmouth on 18 June 1959.

Peter Kerslake says "A fine image here at Parsons Tunnel as Newton Abbot's 5967 "Bickmarsh Hall" leans to the curve having been entrusted with this Top Link duty by the Shedmaster at Old Oak Common.
The mass of rocks form protection from the winter sea conditions that plague this section of line and to the right of the tunnel can be seen the observation post manned during the wartime years in order to provide early warning of enemy vessels in the bay, one of a number of such posts, with one situated at the approach to Teignouth itself and at least another one high on the cliffs above".
