3442 1937-06-05 Birmingham Snow Hill

Great Western Railway Dean 'Bulldog' class 4-4-0 No. 3442 'Bullfinch'. Built at Swindon in May 1909 as GWR No. 3732, re-numbered 3442 in December 1912 and withdrawn in July 1948. Smartly turned out 'Bullfinch' rolls into Birmingham Snow Hill Station in June 1937 with an Up milk train. The 'cordon' gas tank wagon seen on the right were a familiar fixture at this location for many years, they were certainly still berthed there in 1956! Note the unmistakeable and very individual signalbox on the left.
