The days of the 'local' all-stations services are recalled in this lovely study of a Preston to Southport train on ex-L&YR metals at Longton Bridge in Lancashire. Some wag has chalked "have steam - will travel" on the smokebox of BR-built Fairburn '4P' Tank 42154, sadly, only for a few more years! Saturday 2nd March 1963.
