Typical motive power for the area as Lostock Hall’s Fairburn 2-6-4T No. 42154 is pictured at Lytham on 7th March 1964 whilst working a Blackburn to Blackpool express. It even has a nameboard on the first coach. The station had been re-furbished in 1962 including a new footbridge as seen here at the Blackpool end of the station. This replaced the previous one which was difficult to maintain as it was sited against the road overbridge.
