4056 1956-05-23 Plymouth
BPeter Kerslake says "Bristol Bath Road Star 4056 Princess Margaret is piloted out of Plymouth North Road and through Mutley Cutting pn a fast freight with 4056 working back home to Bristol. It was destined to be the last of the class in service and was often seen in Plymouth at this time before withdrawal in October 1957.
A Pannier tank is running down from Mutley Tunnel, but this whole scene has now been ruined by the car park built over the tunnel mouth and extending down to the area of the relay box visible on the left. A family watch the activity from the road above, and the wall partly obscuring the Pannier is a remnant of the footpath down to the long since demolished Mutley station."
