The unmistakeable lofty signal cabin at Manchester London Road Station dominates this scene taken in late 1952. Ex-LMS Fowler 'Patriot' 45520 'Llandudno' is seemingly ready to depart with an express. 45520 was built at Derby in Feb. 1933, was in BR lined black between April 1949 and October 1952; it was withdrawn in May 1962.
