45520 1953 Shrewsbury

45520 1953 Shrewsbury

It is hard to be sure, but the Royal Mail TPO vehicle appears to be getting a bit of a 'wash and brush-up' in the sidings outside Shrewsbury Station as captured on film in 1953. The spire of Shrewsbury United Reform Church and bell tower of Shrewsbury College are behind ex-LMS Fowler 'Patriot' 4-6-0 No. 45520 'Llandudno' that is simmering patiently awaiting its next journey. 45520 was built at Derby in Feb. 1933 as LMS No. 5954 (later 5520) and was withdrawn in May 1962. It looks like it is still in the early BR lined black livery here.
