Whilst nameless ex-LMS Fowler 'Patriot' 45508 is seen here at Crewe Works in September 1953, the adjacent tender still bears the full 'British Railways' insignia. The curiosity of the 'Patriots' is in the decision not to name seven of the class, even though names had supposedly been allocated. The omission of 'Sir Henry Fowler' seems particularly strange - unless it was against his wishes?
