One of the two ‘Patriots’ which utilised parts of the original ‘Claughton’ from which they were developed, No 45501 ’St Dunstans’ at Upperby shed in April 1961. The large central driving wheel bosses are proof of ancestry.
Still 5 months remaining before withdrawal. Rebuilt from ‘Claughton’ No 5902 ‘Sir Frank Ree’ in December 1930 and renumbered 5501 in 1934.
