40934 1950 Buxworth
The great sweeping curve at Buxworth in Derbyshire is on the ex-MR route from Manchester to Sheffield (via the Hope Valley) or Ambergate and beyond. The line here was widened to four tracks in 1900 and Buxworth Tunnel located just to the right in this view was opened out. Ex-LMS Fowler '4P Compound' 40934 heads an interesting rake of stock from Manchester towards Derby. Photo dated 1950.
