34037 1959-04-22 St Mary Cray Junction

SR Rebuilt WC 4-6-2 No 34037 Clovelly with the 6.23 from Cannon Street passing St.Mary Cray Junction on 22 April 1959. The third rail on the left hand line and both crossovers is rusted and appears to never have been used as the junction layout has not long been completed for Kent coast electrification phase 1.

Robert Waterman confirms " The crossovers and left hand up track had yet to be used is correct. They weren't commissioned until the end of May - beginning of June 1959 when the new Chislehurst power box (controlling both the LCDR and SER lines) was commissioned. Also the semaphore signal for the old up road (soon to be down fast road) would have been removed as part of the same works".
