Ex-Great Northern Railway Ivatt 'J22' (LNER 'J6') class 0-6-0 No. 64244. Built at Doncaster in November 1914 as GNR No. 595 and withdrawn in May 1958.
This lovely photograph at Boston in June 1952, is a locomotive class of Henry Ivatt's design but built under Nigel Gresley's time with the GNR. They were used for a wide variety of duties in the GNR's provincial districts, especially from New England, Colwick, and Doncaster. Initially, working express goods trains until the introduction of K1 & K2 Moguls displaced them. All 110 passed into BR ownership the final withdrawals came in 1962.
