92206 1964 York

Peter Kerslake says "A busy scene here at York in 1964 with Standard 92206 looking very presentable, four years after she had been working the Somerset and Dorset line across the Mendips during the 1960 Summer Services.
Following highly successful trials earlier that year with sister engine 92204 it was 92206 seen here, in company with 92203 and 92205 that were initially sent to Bath Motive Power Depot in order to reduce the amount of Double Heading workings on the heavily laden Somerset and Dorset passenger services especially during the Summer months and particularly on Saturdays.
The "9F's" proved themselves capable of handling many of the passenger workings without the need of a pilot engine at a time when passenger traffic over the Somerset and Dorset line was at its peak, but at the end of the 1962 Summer Timetable all through passenger workings were taken away, being diverted via Banbury, Oxford and Bsingstoke."
