With smoke coming from 'the wrong place'!
Peter Kerslake adds "92026, still with its Franco Crosti boiler with which it was fitted from new in 1955, is working hard and showing how the exhaust steam and smoke could so easily penetrate into the cab from the rear mounted chimney, a feature which did not appeal to footplate crews despite the later fitting of smoke deflectors. Beginning with 92026 conversion of the ten Crosti engines to a more conventional design was started in late 1959."
